A thesis in the College of Veterinary Medicine has discussed the detection of listeria monocytogenes in raw milk and dairy products in Kerbala province.

The Public Health Branch in College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Karbala conducted the discussion of a master’s thesis researched by the student (Hind Salem Al-Hasnawi) on the topic: (detection of listeria monocytogenes in raw milk and dairy products in Karbala province). In the presence of a number of researchers and teachers, the discussion conducted on Thursday, 12/15/2022, in the discussion hall in the College.

The study aims to detect and confirm the prevalence of listeria monocytogenes in milk and its dairy products in different areas of the Karbala governorate.

The committee discussed the findings of the researcher concerning the conclusion that there is a spread of bacteria in raw milk and its derivatives, which include (cheese, yoghurt, butter) in the Karbala governorate and its areas. The infection rates were determined in the, districts and center of the governorate. The presence of the bacteria was confirmed by conducting several necessary tests and using the PCR technique. In addition, the research study reached the determination of precautionary and preventive measures. The supervising committee recommended granting the student an excellence degree.
