The College of Veterinary Medicine Opens the File on Addiction from a New Angle: How Do the Effects of Drugs Differ Between Women and Men?

Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Karbala, Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Asaad Al-Kaabi, the College of Veterinary Medicine presented an educational lecture entitled:

“The Danger Gap: How Do Drugs Affect Women and Men Differently?”

The lecture was organized by the Gender Justice Unit in cooperation with the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit.

The lecture was delivered by Colonel Dr. Alaa Aziz Al-Ghazali from the Community Police, who revealed the biological, psychological, and social differences that cause the effects of drugs to take different paths between the sexes, explaining how some groups are more vulnerable and more susceptible to risks when using drugs.

Al-Ghazali highlighted early warning signs, the latest prevention methods, and the role of educational institutions in protecting students from the path of addiction before it begins. The audience showed remarkable interaction, with students asking questions that reflected their awareness of the seriousness of the issue.

This lecture represents an extension of the college’s efforts to support community awareness, establish a culture of prevention, and promote a university environment that protects its students from the most dangerous contemporary behavioral challenges.
