A thesis in the College of Veterinary Medicine discusses productive and biochemical and immunologic aspects that influenced by dietary supplementation of fenugreek or/and alfalfa in the broilees.

The College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Karbala, Public Health Branch conducted the discussion of a master’s thesis accomplished by the student (Fatima Abbas Majeed) on the title (Productive and biochemical and immunologic aspects that influenced by dietary supplementation of fenugreek or/and alfalfa and in the broilees). On Monday, 12/26/2022 and in the presence of a number of researchers and teachers, the discussion conducted in the College.

The study aimed to evaluate the effect of alfalfa and fenugreek leaves powder on the productive, chemical and immunological characteristics of broiler chickens type Rose 308.

The thesis proved that the addition of alfalfa or fenugreek and their mixture at a concentration of 2.5 g per kg of diet led to a high improvement in the productive characteristics and general health of chickens. Also, the study showed that these additions prominently improve biological characteristics in the mixture group compared to the control group. In addition, Newcastle and infectious bursal disease viruses in comparison to the control group has been improved and the amount of this improvement was according to the type of group, where the mixture group showed the best results, which indicates a clear combined effect between fenugreek and alfalfa. The results also showed an improved effect of the added supplements on the quality of chicken meat according to sensory characteristics. The thesis was approved with a grade of excellence.
