The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Nabil Kazem Abdel-Saheb, has discussed with his Saudi counterpart, Dr. Hamad bin Muhammad Al-Sheikh, areas of scientific and academic cooperation between the educational institutions of the two brotherly countries.
This cooperation came on the sidelines of the International Conference and Exhibition for Education 2022, which was held in Riyadh in the presence of the presidents of the universities of Baghdad, Al-Mustansiriya and Kufa and a number of officials of the Saudi Ministry of Education. It relates to the effects of the pandemic, indicators of climate change and food and economic security requirements in light of the cooperation contexts that fall within the fields of the Education, Youth and Sports Committee under the umbrella of the Iraqi-Saudi Coordination Council and the terms of the scientific and educational memorandum of understanding between the two countries, which includes elite granting programs between the two countries and the agreement to increase them similar to the Visiting Researcher Program Between Iraqi universities and their Saudi counterparts, they discussed the file of training in the field of international assessment, academic accreditation and quality standards, as well as research studies for graduate students at the level of master’s and doctoral degrees. The importance of twinning between universities was emphasized.
The two parties reviewed the experiences of Iraq and Saudi Arabia during the pandemic period and the transition to digital and integrated education, as well as the experience of the satellite broadcasting school, which contributed to the continuation of the wheel of education in the Kingdom.
The Iraqi delegation, headed by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Nabil KazemAbdel Sahib, concluded its participation in the activities of the International Conference and Exhibition for Education, which included meetings and talks with the ministers of education of the participating countries, including Egypt, the Sultanate of Oman, Yemen, the UAE and Tunisia, as well as dialogues with international experts in the field of academic education. The delegation visited a number of Saudi universities departments in the exhibition, and discussed with their administrations ways to enhance cooperation in the scientific and research fields between Iraqi and Saudi universities.
