The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, has headed the second meeting of the Opinion Committee, and directed the implementation of the strategy for scientific quality standards and institutional and program accreditation.
At the beginning of the meeting held at the University of Karbala, in the presence of members of the advanced staff of the ministry and presidents of public universities, the Minister of Education emphasized the development and adoption of international scientific and academic standards in applying quality and accreditation standards, pointing at the same time to the importance of procedures for publishing scientific research and thoughtful dealing with discreet journals.
Dr. Al-Aboudi directed the facilitation of procedures for accepting foreign students in undergraduate and postgraduate studies, creating websites for universities, setting up links for student registration, in addition to developing the governance environment in universities, mechanisms for developing measurement units, programmed evaluation, and objective re-evaluation of open specializations in universities in accordance with the requirements of the labor market, developing academic programs to develop teaching methods and the accreditation of the educational process and the treatment of publishing research in journals not accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education and its institutions.
The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naim Al-Aboudi, urged all universities to develop implementation plans to obtain accreditation in the light of specific time limits, continue to follow up the implementation of the plans and their achievement rates, identify obstacles and methods of addressing them, and provide the scientific supervision and evaluation body with a detailed quarterly report and provide the necessary requirements to complete the plans to obtain accreditation both institutional and programmatic.
