Under the patronage of the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Wefaq Jubouri Al-Bazi, the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Karbala concluded its training course on the Iraqi standards for the quality of the laboratories of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, which was organized by the Continuing Education Division and in cooperation with the Quality Assurance Department at the Presidency of the University of Karbala with the participation of supervisors and laboratory officials in the college.
The training course included a practical and indicative explanation of each of the main and sub-item titles of the Ministry of Higher Education laboratory quality standards document, second edition, which is a very important step towards the sustainability of the process of continuous improvement of the infrastructure of laboratory work and an explanation of the steps for implementing the standards items and paragraphs related to laboratory quality according to ISO 17025 and ISO 15189.
The first day’s curriculum was to identify the items of laboratory quality standards in terms of field and specialization, knowledge of laboratory data and regulatory requirements for laboratories.
The second and third days dealt with clarifying the terms of the document in terms of knowing the tasks of the laboratory official and the laboratory quality officer, in addition to the role of the department council and the scientific committee in developing the laboratory, the tasks of the college and the university, knowing the technical requirements and how to coding devices in laboratories, as well as knowing the requirements for training and qualification, documentation and procedures according to the quality requirements of accredited laboratories in auditing and self-evaluation.
