The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research stressed the investment of Iraq’s international partnership with UNESCO in the fields of green education, achieving sustainable development goals and facing environmental challenges.
He said in his speech during the opening of the National Green Education Conference in the presence of the Acting Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, Mr. Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, a number of deputies, representatives of UNESCO, international organizations, agents, university presidents and deans of government and private colleges that Iraq is part of the global partnership with UNESCO in the fields of green education and that this stage requires moving towards a future that depends on sustainable work, which must be based on the higher education sector as a vital basis for achieving development goals and revealing challenges. Environmental.
The Minister of Education urged Iraqi academic institutions to enhance the fields of scientific research and capacity building, enhance awareness and education of the importance of preserving the environment, pointing out that this type of interest stems from the tasks and responsibilities of higher education in achieving development goals and devoting serious and relentless pursuit to formulate curricula and provide scientific and laboratory capabilities that constitute an integrated roadmap to undermine future challenges.
In this context, the Acting Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, and the Chairman of the Parliamentary Higher Education Committee, Dr. Muzahim Al-Khayyat, praised the indicators of scientific development in Iraqi higher education and scientific research institutions, the upgrading of international rankings platforms, and the achievement of productive partnerships in the green education environment, while the Undersecretary for Scientific Research Affairs, Dr. Haider Abdul Dahod, and the representative of the UNESCO Office, Mr. Tam Maison, gave a presentation on sustainable development paths and the scientific research index in this field.
