The President of the Republic receives the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naim Al-Aboudi

His Excellency the President of the Republic, Dr. Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, received at the Peace Palace in Baghdad His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naim Al-Aboudi.

The meeting dealt with the situation of Iraqi universities and colleges and the educational process in the country, where the President stressed the importance of legislating laws that contribute to the development of education in the country and contribute to strengthening the status of Iraqi universities.

His Excellency pointed to the need to benefit from scholarships and fellowships in postgraduate studies provided by the Cyprus Institute to Iraqi students during the visit of the President of the Republic to Cyprus last December.

The President of the Republic called for investing these opportunities in gaining expertise and developing the educational reality in the country through the exchange of visits, and developing ways of cooperation and coordination between Iraqi universities and their counterparts in the world, pointing to the need to develop and expand the scholarship system in a way that encourages Iraqi students to continue their efforts to acquire skills and experience.

For his part, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research gave a brief explanation of the development of the educational reality at the level of teaching and the number of students, and the achievement of Iraqi universities achievements in the field of international rankings, pointing to the imminent entry of Iraqi universities in the Shankhai classification, and the presence of (1015) foreign students currently studying in Iraqi universities.

The Minister of Education stressed that work is underway to establish a zero nuclear reactor to train students and turn it into a reactor that serves scientific research issues, indicating that there is coordination and cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency to work in this direction and in a way that serves peaceful purposes, especially since Iraq has qualified scientists to restore its role in the peaceful use of nuclear energy.
