The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naim Al-Aboudi, stressed that women are partners in the success of university institutions and their scientific achievements, indicating that female teaching staff constitute 41% of the total number of teachers in universities.
This came in his speech during the opening of the scientific conference tagged (Towards a national strategy for the development of Iraqi women in accordance with the Islamic curriculum and national and social constants), where he said that educational and university institutions are full of distinguished female competencies that occupy important positions at the level of university president, assistant university president, general director, dean of a college, assistant dean and head of department, as well as women’s teaching staff, which account for 41% of the total number of teachers in public and private universities.
He urged the Minister of Education to contribute seriously to raising levels of community awareness, introducing the importance of involving women in the national development process, demonstrating their impact on building society and reaching a firm conviction that believes that the responsibilities of women’s development are not exclusive to one side, but rather a joint solidarity responsibility that falls on everyone, calling at the same time to establish a national environment supportive of women in accordance with the authentic Islamic, national and societal constants.
The opening work of the two-day conference included official speeches by a number of women deputies and representatives of relevant ministries and institutions, as well as research sessions on the impact of women in reforming society and their impact on economic development, community building and sustainable development.
