A researcher at the College of Veterinary Medicine obtains a patent in the nanocomposite drug (nanopolymer-methotrexate)

The lecturer, Dr. Khawla Ibrahim Abd Nassif, a teacher at the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Karbala, Physiology Branch, obtained a patent from the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control to enable her to prepare a new nanocomposite drug (nanopolymer – methotrexate) and study its biological effectiveness against breast cancer), from developing an effective drug delivery system for clinical application against breast cancers.

The patent aimed that the basal medium was the best in releasing the drug in hours and days, and the nature of the tensions between the polymer-loaded drug and the protein that causes the growth and spread of breast cancer (Estrogen Receptor Alfa) was studied by the use of the computer program (AutoDock vina and PyMol). Protein-forming amino acids that attract with the drug have also been diagnosed.

It is worth mentioning that this patent was shared by a number of teachers from the University of Karbala, the College of Veterinary Medicine, the College of Education for Pure Sciences, the University of Qadisiyah and the College of Safwa.
