A master’s thesis at the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Karbala discussed the isolation and diagnosis of Coxiella Burnetii bacteria from the milk of cows, sheep and goats using traditional and molecular methods in Karbala Governorate by the student Nawras Amer Mohi.
The study aimed to show the extent of milk contamination with this germ, which is considered one of the most dangerous germs being small in size in addition to the difficulty of planting and causing the disease of unknown fever (Q fever), which is one of the common diseases that affect humans
The study included the isolation and diagnosis of these bacteria (C. burnetii) by traditional methods as well as by Polymerase chain reaction technique, as well as the study of the physical and chemical purity of contaminated milk.
The thesis also discussed the results reached by the researcher through the epidemiology of the disease, which is the first study at the governorate level, where it was about 9.5%, as well as the possibility of implanting it on the culture medium ACCM as an alternative to implantation in egg embryos.
The thesis was approved with a grade of excellence.
