Iraqi and Iranian universities signed 100 memorandums of understanding to develop scientific cooperation within the work of the Science Week currently being held in the holy city of Karbala.
The memorandums of understanding included promoting scientific exchange in various scientific and technological disciplines, organizing joint training programs for students and teachers, exchanging academic experiences in the fields of scientific research, developing cooperation in the fields of modern technology and innovation, focusing on their practical applications that contribute to the development of the economic and scientific sectors and establishing scientific and technical parks in Iraqi universities.
The universities of the two countries agreed to carry out research projects, encourage cooperation in the field of joint scientific supervision, modernize curricula and exchange scholarships.

The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naim Al-Aboudi, confirmed in his speech during the opening ceremony in the presence of the representative of the Parliamentary Education Committee, the Governor of Holy Karbala, the Chairman of its Council, university presidents, general directors and cultural advisors that the second edition of the Iraqi-Iranian Science Week will proceed with details to the application in terms of exchanging scientists, professors and researchers, implementing research and technological projects, cultural exchange, scholarships, holding specialized workshops, stimulating technical and vocational cooperation, and establishing joint science parks. and technology.
He explained that the Iraqi government and its development institutions, especially the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, have achieved positive indicators in the area of internationalization of education and the field of sustainable development and showed the name of Iraq in important international ranks thanks to the keen interest in scientific research and the rise of the growth index in global publishing, noting at the same time that the path of quality of education in Iraqi university institutions has given a guarantee of access to international accreditation and make the study programs and certificates granted at a high level of scientific sobriety.
For his part, Iranian Minister of Science, Research and Technology, Dr. Hossein Simai Sarraf, expressed his thanks for the high level of organization of the Joint Science Week, pointing to the importance of scientific cooperation between the universities of the two countries and strengthening their position in international rankings.
The two sides signed an executive program between the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Iranian Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, which included several axes, including:
Strengthening joint cooperation between the two parties in the scholarship program for undergraduate and postgraduate studies, especially within the Study in Iraq program.
Organizing training workshops for teachers and students.
Encourage cooperation in the field of joint scientific supervision.
The possibility of exchanging university professors to conduct joint scientific research and give lectures in their fields of specialization.
Work on the establishment of a joint scientific park in Iraq under the management of the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
