Under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Muhammad Asaad Saleh Al-Kaabi, Dean of the Faculty, the Microbiology and Veterinary Parasites Branch at the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Karbala organized a scientific field visit for students of the first stage to the General Veterinary Hospital in the Holy Province of Karbala.
This field visit aims to enhance the professional level of the students of the first stage and develop their practical skills in the field of veterinary medicine by providing them with the opportunity to see directly the veterinary work environment and learn about the latest technologies and procedures followed in diagnosis and treatment, and the visit also seeks to link the theoretical aspect with practical application, which contributes to refining their experiences and qualifying them for the requirements of the veterinary labor market.
The students were received by the staff of the General Veterinary Hospital, where they gave a full explanation of the nature of the veterinary services provided and the most important pathological cases that are dealt with and treated. The visit included an introductory tour of the various divisions and units of the hospital, including the surgery hall, laboratory, radiology and sonar diagnostic unit, and pharmacy, in addition to following up on how to conduct clinical examinations for incoming cases and apply some veterinary procedures under the supervision of specialized doctors.
The students expressed their happiness with this experience, which added valuable practical knowledge about the nature of veterinary work in public hospitals. They also noted the importance of field training in supporting their academic and professional careers.
At the end of the visit, the teaching staff accompanying the students thanked the management of the General Veterinary Hospital for their cooperation and continuous support to the students, stressing the importance of continuing such educational events that contribute to enhancing students’ practical experiences and refining their scientific and professional skills.
