As part of its ongoing efforts to support livestock and promote veterinary health, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Karbala University participated in field campaigns to investigate and treat field animals infected with foot-and-mouth disease under the direct supervision and follow-up of the Dean of the Faculty, Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Asad Al-Kaabi.
The campaign took place with the participation of a specialized team of faculty professors, where field inspections of livestock were conducted in a number of areas in Husseiniya district, to detect infected cases and provide the necessary treatment. The campaign also included providing veterinary guidance to livestock breeders on ways to prevent the disease and limit its spread.
The Dean of the College emphasized that this participation comes within the College’s mission to contribute to providing the best community services, which contributes to preserving animal wealth, increasing production, controlling common and transitional diseases, and taking all measures to deal with epidemic diseases that threaten livestock.
It is worth noting that foot-and-mouth disease is a rapidly spreading viral disease that greatly affects animal production, which calls for intensifying research and field efforts to combat it.
The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Karbala University continues its efforts to organize similar campaigns in coordination with the General Veterinary Hospital in the province and its affiliated clinics, believing in the importance of the veterinary role in protecting food and health security in the province
