As part of its efforts to promote veterinary awareness and limit the spread of animal diseases, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Karbala University, in cooperation with the General Veterinary Hospital, organized a specialized scientific lecture entitled “Foot and Mouth Disease: its risks to livestock and humans” in the presence of the Dean of the Faculty, Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Asad Al-Kaabi, and a number of professors, researchers and students.
The lecture, which was presented by a group of specialized professors in the internal medicine and veterinary preventive branch, focused on reviewing the causes of the disease, its symptoms, methods of transmission, as well as its economic effects on livestock. The experts also discussed the latest preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic methods, highlighting the role of veterinary hospitals and diagnostic laboratories in the early detection of the disease and limiting its spread.
The lecturer, Dr. Mohammed Asad Al Kaabi, stressed the importance of veterinary awareness and periodic vaccination of livestock, as well as the application of strict health measures to protect livestock. The event also witnessed in-depth scientific discussions and exchange of experiences between the participants, which enhances cooperation between the university and veterinary institutions in the governorate.
At the conclusion of the lecture, the attendees praised the joint efforts between the College of Veterinary Medicine and the General Veterinary Hospital in organizing these scientific events that contribute to supporting the veterinary sector and protecting animal health. They also emphasized the need to continue such initiatives to keep abreast of the latest scientific developments and promote ways to prevent epidemic diseases.
