Under the patronage of the President of Karbala University, Prof. Sabah Wajid Ali, and under the supervision of the Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammad Asad Saleh, the Scientific Affairs Unit, in cooperation with the Technical and Cultural Activities Unit at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, organized a scientific awareness seminar entitled “Combating Violent Extremism Leading to Terrorism” as part of its efforts to enhance community awareness about the dangers of extremism and its negative impact on security and stability, lectured by Professor Engineer Nourse Adnan Razouki / Karbala Governorate with the participation of a number of faculty and students at the Faculty.
The seminar aims to spread awareness about the dangers of violent extremism leading to terrorism and highlight its causes and negative effects on society, in addition to discussing ways to prevent it through education and intellectual awareness, highlighting the role of academic institutions in promoting the values of tolerance and moderation and encouraging cooperation between the competent authorities to combat extremist ideology and enhance community security and stability.
The seminar included several themes, including the causes of extremism, its effects on societies, and ways to prevent it through education and intellectual awareness.
The seminar witnessed great interaction by the attendees, including professors and students, who discussed the role of academic institutions in addressing the phenomenon of extremism and the importance of spreading the values of tolerance and moderation among individuals.
At the conclusion of the event, the participants stressed the need to promote such targeted academic initiatives and cooperation between universities and specialized institutions to spread the culture of peace and combat extremist ideology, and a book of thanks and appreciation was handed over to the lecturer by the Assistant Dean of the College for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ihab Ghazi Mahdi.
