Under the supervision of the Dean of the Faculty, Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammad Asad Al-Kaabi, and in a step aimed at reducing environmental pollution and promoting sustainable development goals, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Karbala University, in cooperation with the General Veterinary Hospital in the province, launched an environmental initiative to distribute paper bags as an alternative to plastic bags by the fifth stage students of the Faculty.
The initiative included the distribution of paper bags to a number of shop owners and veterinary clinics in the Tuwairij and Furayha areas to raise awareness about the dangers of plastic bags on the environment and wildlife. The campaign also included awareness-raising instructions on the importance of using environmentally friendly alternatives and their positive impact on public health.
For his part, the Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Asaad Al Kaabi, stressed that this initiative comes within the college’s commitment to its community role in promoting positive environmental behaviors, calling on other institutions to adopt sustainable practices that contribute to reducing pollution.
The Director of the General Veterinary Hospital also expressed his full support for this step, praising the cooperation between academic and service institutions in order to achieve a cleaner and safer environment.
It is noteworthy that this initiative comes within a series of community activities organized by the college to enhance environmental awareness among students and the community while emphasizing the importance of switching to sustainable alternatives to protect natural resources for future generations.
