Under the patronage and direct supervision of the Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Asad Al-Kaabi, a specialized training course entitled “Basics of using the sonar device, pregnancy screening in different stages in animals and diagnostic radiology” was organized by the Continuing Education, Rehabilitation, Employment and Graduate Follow-up Units at the College of Veterinary Medicine, with the participation of the fifth stage students, where the aim of this course was to introduce the participants to the sonar device, its types, components and mechanism of action, in addition to highlighting its most important uses in the veterinary field, especially in pregnancy screening and fetal age determination, with the possibility of diagnosing some cases of The course also included an introduction to the diagnostic radiology device, its components, and its various uses in veterinary medicine.
The course included three main themes:
The first axis: Recognizing the sonar device, its components and mechanism of action, in addition to the radiology device and its types.
The second axis: Studying the signs and signals that appear on the sonar screen that indicate the presence or absence of pregnancy, as well as determining the age of the fetus in months and days, in addition to the possibility of diagnosing some diseases using the device. It also touched on the radiology device, its components and types.
The third axis: Practical application of the use of the sonar device on various field animals, while training participants on how to diagnose some injuries and other diseases.At the end of the course, the students praised the importance of the scientific and practical content that was presented, with the need to organize more training courses that contribute to developing their skills as veterinarians and increasing their knowledge in the fields of modern veterinary diagnostics.
