Under the patronage and direct supervision of the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Asad Al-Kaabi, the Human Rights and Women Affairs Units organized an educational awareness seminar entitled “The Dangers of Electronic Blackmail”, lectured by Assistant lecturer Ammar Hussein Jawad, in the presence of a number of students and employees of the College, in the presence of a number of students and faculty members.
The seminar addressed one of the most prominent challenges facing Internet users today, especially the youth, as a result of the increasing and unsafe use of social media, and the resulting risks of cyber extortion.
The seminar aimed at raising awareness of the concept of cyber extortion, highlighting its risks and psychological and social effects, and explaining ways to prevent it, while emphasizing the importance of maintaining electronic privacy and not sharing personal information with strangers or through insecure platforms.
The seminar also clarified the steps to be followed when exposed to a cyber extortion attempt, and emphasized the importance of reporting such cases to the competent authorities and not giving in to extortionists.
This seminar is part of a series of activities carried out by the college to promote the culture of digital security and spread community awareness about cybercrime and ways to address it.
