The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, announced the launch of the third edition of the Study in Iraq program for the 2025/2026 academic year to accept international students at Iraqi universities.
In his speech, attended by a number of representatives of international organizations, Arab and foreign diplomatic missions, parliamentary figures, the President of the Iraqi Academics Syndicate, and senior staff, he explained that the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, with all its university institutions and formations, has consistently adopted and implemented strategic projects that position the university education environment as part of the internationalization process and the globalization of academic events.
He emphasized that the third edition of the Study in Iraq program includes an ambitious plan that includes more than 16,000 scholarships to include the largest number of international students, cover more diverse disciplines, and provide broader opportunities for scientific and cultural exchange.
The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, directed the establishment of the Study in Iraq Association for International Students, the designation of April 30 as International Student Day, and the focus on practical training and the development of Arabic language teaching programs for non-native speakers.
Dr. Tab Raj, Head of Education and Acting UNESCO Office in Iraq, congratulated the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research on the launch of the third edition of the Study in Iraq program. He noted that Iraq continues to enhance its rich heritage by opening its doors to international students from around the world at its universities and educational centers, emphasizing that these students will contribute to writing a new chapter in the story of this country, full of resilience and renewal.
The ceremony to launch the third edition of the Study in Iraq program included speeches and presentations by the Director of the Department of Scholarships and Cultural Relations, the President of the University of Baghdad, the President of the University of Anbar, and two international students. The event concluded with the honoring of distinguished universities and a commemorative photo of the international students.
