The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Higher Education Council of the Republic of Turkey regarding the opening of branches of Turkish public universities in Iraq.
The Memorandum of Understanding, which was signed under the auspices of the Prime Minister, who is on an official visit to Ankara, aims to enhance cooperation and develop bilateral relations in the field of higher education and scientific research.
The Memorandum of Understanding, which enters into force from the date of its signing, stipulates that the establishment of branches of Turkish public universities in Iraq shall be subject to the approval of the competent authorities and in accordance with applicable Iraqi legislation.
In this regard, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, emphasized that the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two countries represents an extension of the policy and methodology of academic openness adopted by the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and its vision for internationalizing university education and activating international academic partnerships.
