Researcher at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine succeeds in preparing the Natt-Herrick solution for blood count in birds

Veterinarian Zainab Ali Jabur from the Public Health Branch of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Karbala University has managed to prepare the Natt-Herrick solution, which is one of the accurate solutions used in hematology to count white and sometimes red blood cells in birds, in a scientific step that contributes to the development of research and diagnostic tools in the field of avian health.
This solution is an essential tool in veterinary studies and research that requires high accuracy in counting blood cells and is characterized by its ability to stain cells in a way that allows them to be clearly seen under the microscope, which helps to prepare accurate microscopic slides used in laboratory tests within academic research or veterinary diagnostics.
The researcher explained that the preparation was carried out using a structured saline solution with methyl violet 2B dye, which is a biological dye that allows easy identification of blood cells, adding that the success of the experiment enhances the research capabilities of students and professors at the branch and allows more accurate examinations on bird samples within the college’s laboratories.
