Ministry of Education Organizes Conference to Mark Baghdad’s Selection as Arab Tourism Capital

            The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, under the direction of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, organized a celebratory conference to mark the selection of Baghdad as the Arab Tourism Capital for 2025. The conference was held in cooperation with the Permanent National Committee for Community Awareness and Guidance in the Prime Minister’s Office.

In a speech delivered by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Adnan Ibrahim Al-Jumaili, he stated that the Ministry of Higher Education is committed to and keen on supporting institutional partnerships that position Baghdad as an academic, cultural, and tourism destination.

He added that Iraqi academic and cultural institutions continue to support and consolidate development plans with a horizon extending to 2030, achieving a conscious response to their objectives, and launching them into global partnerships.

The event included speeches by the Minister of Culture, Dr. Ahmed Fakak Al-Badrani, and the Director General of the Research and Development Department, Dr. Lubna Khamis Mahdi. It also featured panel discussions, presentations, and activities that reflected the context of the Iraqi state’s strategic vision for cultural and knowledge tourism, in which the roles of universities, cultural institutions, and the tourism sector are integrated.
