Education denies granting 16574 seats to Syrian students in Iraqi universities

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research denies allegations circulating in some social media platforms regarding the granting of 16,574 seats for Syrian students in Iraqi universities as part of the Study in Iraq program.

In this context, the ministry clarifies that the total number of international students accepted in the program does not exceed three thousand students belonging to (47) Arab, Asian, African and European nationalities, and they were accepted according to scientific controls and clear mechanisms that take into account academic disciplines and the capacity of Iraqi universities.

The ministry calls on everyone, especially those interested in and following academic affairs, to adopt official data, to be accurate and responsible, and not to deal with rumors and misinformation attempts aimed at harming the higher education sector and its prestigious institutions.
