Three Iraqi universities compete in the 2025 WURI World University Innovation Ranking

Iraq has made new progress in global rankings with the entry of three universities in the 2025 World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI), which measures the innovative performance of educational institutions.

The University of Basra ranked 263rd globally, Central Technical University ranked 301-350, and Babylon University ranked 353rd out of 400 universities that entered the rankings.

The Central Technical University achieved a positive distinction by appearing in four out of 16 categories, including second place in the Culture/Values category, which promotes an environment of innovation on campus.

The WURI ranking is based on sixteen key criteria that assess the extent of innovation and societal impact of academic institutions, most notably: Innovation in education, entrepreneurship, start-ups, industry collaboration, social responsibility, ethical values, integrity, crisis response, digital transformation, and environmental sustainability.

The ranking (https://www.wuri.world/wuri-ranking-2025) is published in South Korea on the initiative of Hanseong University and in cooperation with international academic organizations, and aims to highlight universities that offer innovative and interactive solutions in higher education, scientific research, and community service.
