In the context of his strategic vision to develop the Iraqi academic system and keep pace with global digital and knowledge shifts, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr Naim Al-Abboudi issued a ministerial order to create the Colleges of Excellence and Artificial Intelligence at Baghdad University starting from the academic year 2026/2025.
The Faculty of Excellence includes the departments of Applied Information Systems, Data Science, E-Business Management, Accounting and Banking, Philosophy and Sociology, while the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence includes engineering applications, biomedical applications and big data.
The ministerial order set 20 August 2025 as the date for completing the logistical and human requirements for the two colleges and directed the Department of Studies, Planning and Follow-up to set admission controls and application mechanism to ensure attracting student competencies and absorbing energies aspiring to renewed educational environments.
