Assistant Professor Dr Mohammed Asad Al-Kaabi, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine – Karbala University participated in the solidarity stand organised by the university on the morning of 3 August 2025 to commemorate the victims of the genocide suffered by the Yazidi community and other Iraqi communities at the hands of the terrorist group ISIS.
The vigil took place in the university’s presidency square under the patronage of the university president, Prof. Sabah Wajid Ali, in the presence of a number of assistant professors deans of colleges teachers and employees.
In a statement Dr Al-Kaabi said:
“Our participation today represents a moral and humanitarian stance stemming from our deep belief in the justice of the cause and our rejection of all forms of extremism and violation that affected our compatriots from different components. The genocide of the Yazidis is a deep wound in Iraqi memory, and it is our academic responsibility to document it, educate generations about its gravity and work to prevent its recurrence.”
He added that Iraqi universities are not far from the issues of their society, but are an active partner in building awareness, consolidating the culture of coexistence and defending the human rights of all components of the Iraqi people.
He concluded his speech by stressing that the College of Veterinary Medicine will remain open to its awareness-raising and national role, calling for more efforts to achieve comprehensive justice and justice for victims and their families and to continue supporting civil and community peace
