Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research announces exemption from tuition fees for persons with disabilities and affirms support for groups covered by social welfare

      The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Naim Al-Aboudi, received the Minister of Labour and Social Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Al-Asadi, and discussed a number of joint issues foremost among which was the project of the Supreme Coordinating Council for Technical Training and Education.

During a joint press conference Dr. Naim Al-Aboudi, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, affirmed his close monitoring of the requirements of groups covered by social welfare grants and the decision to reduce tuition fees by 50% at public and private universities.

The Minister of Education announced his approval of a 100% exemption from tuition fees for people with disabilities and directed the relevant departments to provide all the necessary facilities to enable these groups to continue their academic journey and achieve their scientific aspirations at Iraqi universities.

For his part the Minister of Labour and Social Affairs Mr. Ahmed Al-Asadi expressed his sincere thanks for the integration between the two ministries stressing that this cooperation serves the public interest and enhances the response to the needs of all segments of society especially those covered by the social welfare law.
