Teaching participation from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine – University of Kerbala in the discussion of a doctoral thesis at the Faculty of Pure Sciences Education

     Professor Mona Hussein Hassan from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine University of Kerbala, participated as a member of the doctoral thesis discussion committee for student Mohammed Abbas from the Department of Life Sciences Faculty of Pure Sciences University of Kerbala entitled:
‘The protective effect of the aqueous extract of nettle leaves against the reproductive toxicity of cisplatin in male rats.’

The study aimed to evaluate the protective role of nettle extract in mitigating the toxic effects of cisplatin on the testes and epididymis in male rats by monitoring tissue hormonal and physiological changes.
The results showed that the plant extract had a positive effect in protecting testicular and epididymal tissues, improving sperm parameters raising reproductive hormone levels increasing antioxidants and reducing oxidative stress indicators which contributes to enhancing fertility and reducing the side effects of the drug.

At the end of the discussion the judging committee praised the scientific efforts made by the researcher appreciating the results, which represent an important addition to the field of medical and experimental research.
