Under the patronage of the President of the University of Kerbala Professor Dr. Sabah Wajid Ali, and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Asaad Al-Kaabi the Educational Guidance and Psychological Counseling Unit in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit, organized a university orientation workshop for first-year students. The workshop, presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Asawer Asaad Mohammed and Assistant Lecturer Sajjad Adnan Khudair, aimed to prepare students for a smooth integration into the university environment and to build a solid academic foundation from day one.
The workshop began by welcoming the new students and introducing them to the college, its departments, and faculty members, thus fostering a sense of belonging and providing them with a clear vision of their academic path throughout their studies.
The workshop included a comprehensive explanation of the university system, including the credit hour system, attendance policies, student conduct, and the evaluation process. Students were also informed of their rights and responsibilities on campus.
Laboratory safety protocols, a cornerstone of veterinary studies, were also highlighted, emphasizing the importance of wearing protective clothing, handling chemicals and biological materials correctly, and following instructions to ensure safety during practical sessions.
The workshop presenters stressed the necessity of instilling values of discipline and academic responsibility as essential foundations for success and excellence in university life.
Students were also introduced to the support services available at the college, including academic advising, the central library, student activities, the safety unit, and others, to ensure a comprehensive learning environment that helps them build a successful academic career.
This workshop is part of the College of Veterinary Medicine’s efforts to provide a strong and informed start for its new students and enhance their readiness for a distinguished and promising university experience.
