The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research launched the initiative of the Academic Bridge Program between Iraq and the United Kingdom and handed over an official copy of this to the British Council in the British capital, London.
This came in his speech during the Iraqi-British Universities Forum (Iraq-UK Higher Education Dialogue) held in London, where he explained that the possibilities of cooperation between the universities of the two countries are wide and diverse in terms of joint research initiatives and academic exchange to develop education programs, especially in the fields of medicine, engineering, capacity building and keeping pace with global academic trends.
He called for the formulation of a framework for cooperation based on the principles of mutual respect, equality and sustainability, proposing at the same time the formation of a bilateral working group comprising representatives of the academic and government sectors of the two countries to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and ensure the smooth implementation of joint initiatives.
He concluded his speech by calling for making this understanding a starting point towards positive partnerships between universities that pave the way for excellence and global academic cooperation.
The activities and dialogues of the forum were attended by a group of presidents of Iraqi public and private universities and their British counterparts, a number of advisors, experts, general managers and cultural advisors, who presented their perceptions of the context of understanding in light of the proposed initiative launched by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naim Al-Aboudi.
