Under the supervision of the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed As’ad Al-Kaabi, and within the framework of enhancing field education and linking academic aspects with practical applications, the Public Health Department at the College of Veterinary Medicine at Karbala University, in cooperation with the Department of Internal and Preventive Veterinary Medicine, organized a scientific trip to the Sulaymaniyah factories in Karbala Governorate, with the participation of fifth-year students and graduate students.
During the visit, the students were briefed on the production lines and manufacturing methods, where factory officials provided detailed explanations about quality control mechanisms, health safety procedures, and food production standards, in addition to learning about the work of testing laboratories and the mechanisms for monitoring the quality of raw materials and final products.
Al-Kaabi emphasized the importance of these visits in enhancing students’ scientific knowledge, pointing out that field training is a fundamental pillar in shaping a qualified veterinarian capable of contributing to improving public health and ensuring food safety.
The students expressed their satisfaction with this experience, which provided them with the opportunity to learn about the practical challenges facing the food manufacturing sector, affirming that this visit will enhance their understanding of health practices and the best ways to ensure the safety of animal products.
At the end of the visit, the College of Veterinary Medicine honored the staff of the Sulaymaniyah factories with shields and letters of thanks in appreciation of their efforts in supporting the educational process and their cooperation in providing an outstanding field experience for the students, emphasizing the importance of continued collaboration between academic institutions and the industrial sector to enhance veterinary education and training in Iraq.
