Under the supervision of the Dean of the Faculty, Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammad Asad Saleh Al-Kaabi, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Karbala University, in cooperation with the Karbala Institute for Media Development, organized a workshop entitled “Electronic Media and Social Media Sites: Its importance and danger” in the presence of a group of professors, students and those interested in media affairs.
The workshop, delivered by Mr. Mohammad Jawad Al-Abadi, President of Karbala Institute for Media Development, addressed the role of electronic media in shaping public opinion and the impact of social networking sites on society, in addition to the challenges facing users in light of the widespread spread of misleading information and news. The lecture also touched on ways of safe and responsible use of these platforms and enhancing awareness of the mechanisms for verifying the authenticity of news and sources.
The lecturer emphasized the importance of digital media in spreading knowledge and effective communication, while warning of the dangers of misuse.
The workshop concluded with an interactive discussion session with the participants, during which they exchanged views and experiences on the best practices in dealing with electronic media at the present time.
It is worth mentioning that this workshop comes within a series of activities organized by the College of Veterinary Medicine to enhance its role in spreading digital and media awareness among students and the community.
