The Poultry and Fish Diseases Branch at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Karbala University received cases of Hy-Line Brown laying hens from a field in Al-Suwaira area, including a 40-week-old chicken and a 58-day-old chicken.
Under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Latif Ibrahim Kazim, the specialized team at the branch performed a pathological autopsy on the infected poultry, where the cases were accurately diagnosed and the possible causes of the symptoms were identified. Appropriate treatment was provided based on the results of the diagnosis, in addition to providing health and preventive guidelines for poultry farmers to avoid the spread of diseases.
These procedures witnessed the participation of the fourth stage students within the practical training, where they were directly exposed to the mechanisms of dissection, diagnosis and treatment, which enhanced their practical skills and increased their experience in dealing with field disease cases.
The Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Asad Saleh Al-Kaabi, said that receiving such cases is free of charge as part of its scientific and service role to support the livestock sector and provide veterinary consultations, stressing the importance of cooperation between breeders and veterinary staff to limit the spread of diseases and enhance animal production in the country.
