The Surgery and Obstetrics Branch of the College of Veterinary Medicine at Karbala University, under the supervision of the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Asa’a Saleh Al-Kaabi, conducted a successful surgery to remove the eye of a “Scotch” cat in the college’s animal field.
The operation came as a result of a blow that caused complete damage to the eye. Assistant Professor Falah Mahmoud Hameed and veterinarian Ali Wasfi Sadiq performed the surgical intervention, with the participation of fifth-stage students as part of practical training to enhance their surgical skills.
The damaged eye was successfully removed with full adherence to sterilization and safety procedures, while the medical team confirmed the stability of the cat’s condition after the operation. These efforts come as part of the college’s efforts to develop the practical side of students and link the curricula with real-life applications
