The College of Veterinary Medicine continues its excellence: Pilot production of sesame oil and preparations to launch black seed oil among innovative health projects.

As part of its ongoing efforts to integrate academic knowledge with practical application, the College of Veterinary Medicine continues to implement a pilot production project for pure sesame oil within the Veterinary Public Health Laboratory. This is part of a prominent scientific and professional initiative approved by the College’s Industrial Advisory Council Committee, in cooperation with the Governorate’s General Veterinary Hospital.

This vital project reflects the college’s scientific potential and advanced technical capabilities. A precise series of steps were implemented, starting with preparing and pressing sesame seeds using specialized equipment, through filtration and packaging processes, leading to the production of a high-purity, high-quality oil.

The Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Muhammad Asaad Al-Kaabi, emphasized that this project embodies the college’s approach to utilizing natural resources and transforming them into high-value nutritional and health products. He noted that sesame oil is a medicinal oil rich in antioxidants and contributes to strengthening the immune system, lowering cholesterol, and improving overall health.

In a new scientific step added to its record of achievements, Dr. Al Kaabi revealed the imminent launch of a pilot project for the production of black seed oil as part of a series of scientific experiments aimed at exploring the therapeutic properties of natural plant oils. He said, “Black seed oil is a medical treasure that has long been known for its many benefits, especially in supporting immunity, balancing hormones, and contributing to the prevention of chronic diseases.”

He added, “We are not just producing oils; we are also producing knowledge, skills, and scientific confidence that we instill in our students, providing them with the tools to excel in the fields of nutrition and preventive health.”

The college emphasizes that these projects are not merely laboratory activities, but rather a pioneering model of integration between theory and practice, reflecting its mission to prepare students with high scientific and professional skills, as well as its ongoing commitment to serving the community and advancing health and nutrition through sound scientific research and field application.
