As part of its relentless efforts to develop the practical skills and enhance the field experience of its students, the summer training activities for fourth-year students at the College of Veterinary Medicine for the 2024-2025 academic year began today. The training is under the direct supervision of the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Muhammad Asaad Al-Kaabi, and in coordination with several veterinary hospitals and clinics in the governorates of Karbala, Baghdad, Wasit, Babil, Muthanna, and Dhi Qar.
This program aims to prepare and qualify students professionally by linking theory with practical application, engaging them in real-life work environments that mimic the professional reality in various fields of veterinary medicine. The training is part of an integrated annual plan prepared by the Summer Training Unit in cooperation with the clinical branches at the college, ensuring a variety of tasks assigned to students and a broad coverage of diagnostic and therapeutic fieldwork.
The Dean of the College noted that summer training is a pivotal milestone in a student’s academic journey, as it enhances their ability to communicate effectively and provides them with vital skills they will need in the future workplace. He emphasized the Deanship’s continued support for providing an ideal and safe training environment that meets the requirements of the current stage and fulfills students’ aspirations.
Dr. Al Kaabi added, “We believe that engaging in field work is the cornerstone in building a successful veterinarian, capable of facing challenges, dealing with various medical conditions with high efficiency, and keeping pace with rapid developments in the field of veterinary medicine.”
For their part, the participating students expressed their great enthusiasm for participating in this program, emphasizing that summer training represents a valuable opportunity for them to gain experience, build self-confidence, and explore various areas of veterinary work, contributing to their qualification as effective professional cadres in serving the community and preserving livestock.
This training program embodies the college’s vision of providing integrated veterinary education that balances theoretical knowledge with practical experience, adhering to rigorous academic standards. This contributes to preparing a capable generation of veterinarians who possess the skills and competence to serve the nation in one of the noblest humanitarian professions.
