Safety is a shared responsibility. The Dean directs to enhance the efficiency of the college’s firefighting systems

      Within the framework of the continuous interest in enhancing occupational safety requirements and maintaining a safe learning environment the Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Karbala University Assistant Professor Dr Mohammed Asad Al-Kaabi conducted an extensive field tour to check the readiness of civil defence systems and firefighting equipment in the corridors of the college.

The inspection tour included reviewing the fixed and mobile fire extinguishing systems and ensuring the validity of the work of fire extinguishers and their proper distribution inside the halls laboratories and vital facilities as well as reviewing the preventive measures followed in work sites that witness the use of chemicals or sensitive electrical devices.

During his tour the Dean stressed the need to enhance the efficiency of preventive systems in line with the instructions of the Civil Defence Directorate pointing out that the safety of students and affiliates is a top priority for the college. He also directed the necessity of conducting periodic examinations of equipment and documenting maintenance and technical modernisation procedures to ensure full readiness for any possible emergency.

The Dean emphasised that the concept of safety is not limited to equipment only but includes raising the level of awareness and education within the academic institution
He called for organising workshops and training courses in coordination with the concerned authorities to raise the efficiency of employees and train them on how to act in case of emergencies.

At the end of the tour Assistant Professor Dr Al Kaabi praised the efforts exerted by the maintenance services and civil defence divisions in following up the safety requirements stressing that these measures are in line with the institutional directives towards a safe and responsible university environment.
