The College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Kerbala Discusses a Thesis Exploring the Therapeutic Role of Saffron in Alleviating Diabetes

Under the auspices of the Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Kerbala, Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Asaad Al-Kaabi, the Master’s thesis of student Al-Hawraa Ali Hussein in the Department of Physiology, Biochemistry, and Pharmacology was discussed. The thesis was titled:

“The Effect of Saffron on Carotenectin, Avamin, and Oxidative Stress in Rats with Streptozotocin-Induced Diabetes.”

The thesis aimed to study the preventative and therapeutic role of saffron in reducing the damage caused by diabetes. The researcher used an experimental model on rats, which showed remarkable results, including improved insulin levels, reduced blood sugar, improved indicators of oxidative stress and lipid profile, as well as moderate regeneration of pancreatic beta cells.

The student received a grade of “Excellent” in recognition of her research efforts and valuable scientific findings.
