To investigate the effect of D-galactose overload on the CNS, and to study the preventive role of Glutathione against adverse effect of overload of D-galactose .

The increase in the concentration of D-galactose for a period of six weeks in female rats led to oxidative stress, an increase in beta-amyloid and acetylcholinesterase levels in the blood serum, and a decrease in the antioxidants present. Histological study showed the accumulation of amyloid in the brain tissue. And glutathione helped reduce the damage caused by D-gal.
