The College of Veterinary Medicine have discussed a master’s thesis on the evaluation role of L-Carnitine against acute hepatotoxicity after cytarabine chemotherapy in males ratsby Marwa Sabah Majeed.

The Branch of Physiology, Biochemistry and Pharmacology at the College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Karbala conducted a master’s thesis discussion that accomplished by the student (Marwa Sabah Majeed) on the topic: the evaluation role of L-Carnitine against acute hepatotoxicity after cytarabine chemotherapy in males rats).
In the presence of a number of researchers, professors and the students’ families, the discussion performed on Thursday 27/10/2022 in the faculty’s discussion room.
The thesis aimed at how to treat the effects of liver toxicity due to excessive use of cytarabine drug, such as high fat content by using L-carnitin. The thesis included measuring liver enzymes, antioxidants and MDA after exposing rats to an excessive dose of cytarabine, and then measuring them after giving L-carnitine, and studying the best dose to reduce liver toxicity after treatment with cytarabine. Also, the thesis discussed the results reached by the researcher that the used dose of 300 mg/kg/BW of L-carnitine was the best to reduce the toxic effects of the liver after treatment with cytarabine. The thesis was approved with excellence.
