The College of Veterinary Medicine discussed a master’s thesis in the Branch of Physiology and Biochemistry and Pharmacology by the student Doaa Hashem Jawad on the topic:Physiological and Immunohistochemical Instigation of Silymarin Effect on the Prolactin Gene Expression in Pituitary and Mammary Glands during Lactation Period in Female Rats.

A master’s thesis was discussed in the College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Karbala, in the Branch of Physiology and Biochemistry and Pharmacology by the student (Doaa Hashim Jawad) which is entitled: Physiological and Immunohistochemical Instigation of Silymarin Effect on the Prolactin Gene Expression in Pituitary and Mammary Glands during Lactation Period in Female Rats. In the presence of a number of researchers, teachers, and the student’s family, the discussion held on Wednesday, 9/11/2022 in the discussion hall in the college.
The aim of the thesis is to study and find out the effect of silymarin on the gene expression of the hormone prolactin during the lactation period of female rats. The thesis also discussed the findings of the researcher that was a significant increase (P≤0.05) in the level of prolactin enzyme, estrogen, glutathione, GSH, SOD and CAT in the group treated with silymarin compared to the control group. Also, a decrease on the level of MDA and Progstron enzyme was noticed. The thesis was approved with excellence.
