The discussion of a thesis studying the supplementation of folic acid to lohmann hens diet to improve the quality of folic acid level in eggs, health status of hens and produce rich eggs with folic acid

The College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Karbala discussed a master’s thesis in the Branch of Public Health that was accomplished by the student (Abeer Karim Sultan Al-Shammari) on the topic: (the supplementation of folic acid to lohmann layer hens diet to optimize folic acid level in eggs and to enhance immune response intestinal morphology of hens). On Sunday, 11/20/2022, the discussion conducted in the presence of a number of researchers and teachers in the discussion hall in the College.
The aim of the thesis is to study the evaluation of the effect of folic acid added to the fodder of Lohmann’s layer on the concentration of folic acid in eggs and serum and its effect on improving the health status of the intestine and enhancing the immune response.
The thesis also discussed the findings of the researcher that adding folic acid (1 mg per kg) of feed to the diet of Lohmann chickens will lead to an increase in the concentration of folic acid in the blood and then an increase in its concentration in the eggs, and thus the production of folic acid, and this helps the pregnant woman to reduce the deformity of the spinal cord in the fetus. In addition, the production of folic acid enhances the quality of eggs and the immune response of the chickens that consume this diet as well as the improvement of the health condition of the intestines due to the improvement of the increase of the villi in it. The thesis approved with excellence.
The discussion and supervision committee consisted of:
