The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, has honored the distinguished researchers and the winners of the Al-Ayen Prize for the Iraqi academic scientific researcher.
This came during a ceremony held by Al-Ayen University in its third edition, in the presence of university presidents, the academics syndicate, a group of researchers, a group of faculty members, and a number of officials of Thi-Qar Governorate.
In his speech, the Minister of Higher Education has called for intensifying the fields of applied research that serve the labor market and the institutions of the public and private sectors. At the same time, Dr. Al-Aboudi has,pointed out to the importance of developing research and scientific outputs and their quality in universities, increasing their impact globally, providing appropriate financial support for the research environment and granting Scientific Excellence Medal for researchers.
Furthermore, Dr. Al-Aboudi has stated that the responsibilities of all higher education institutions will be doubled in the future years, pointing out that the pattern of university education is no longer confined to traditional paths and systems, which requires enabling universities to keep pace with the changes that require a deliberate shift in the level of interaction and methods of teaching and learning.
In this context, the Undersecretary for Scientific Research Affairs, Dr. Haider Abd Dhahad, presented a speech that included the Ministry’s direction and policy in the field of supporting scientific research and global publishing.
On his part, the President of Al-Ayen University reviewed the indicators of Iraqi scientific research and the mechanisms for selecting the winners and distinguished in the Al-Ayen Award for Academic Researcher, and then called on the President of the Iraqi Academics Syndicate to supporting the scientific research environment and enhancing the levels of excellence among researchers.
