The Minister of Higher Education has received a delegation from the World Bank and discussed completing projects of centers of excellence in universities and supporting scientific research.

The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, has received the Director of the World Bank’s office in Iraq and the bank’s projects officer in the Middle East region, Mr. Richard Abdel Nour, and his accompanying delegation.

The two sides discussed the path of joint work towards supporting the environment of higher education and scientific research in Iraq and completing university projects, especially with regard to the development of centers of excellence that would contribute to the development of the research aspect and support areas of work in modern disciplines and enable the private sector to have positive partnerships with academic institutions to modernize curricula and the educational process and developing the graduates’ skills.

During the meeting, Dr. Al-Aboudi clarified the indicators of the important performance undertaken by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and its institutions in developing human capital in Iraq and providing solutions, capabilities and scientific treatments for the current challenges in accordance with international indicators and standards.

The World Bank delegation expressed their thanks to the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Al-Aboudi, for his effective response in supporting and implementing joint projects and his approval on the draft of higher education strategy 2031/2023, which completed all axes and pillars in cooperation with international partners, especially the World Bank and UNESCO.
