The Minister of Higher Education confirms the importance of joining universities with productive sectors and community service.

The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, has emphasized the importance of associating universities with the productive sectors, community service, developing the scientific and research environment, and contributing to solving problems that hold back development paths.

Dr. Al-Aboudi said in a speech during his visit to the University of Basra, in the presence of the Governor of Basra, Asaad Al-Eidani, number of Parliament members, the Minister’s Assistance for Administrative Affairs, and the General Director for Studies and Planning that the Ministry carries on supporting and setting up the projects of infrastructures of education institutions and exerting all efforts and potential energies in order to upgrade universities and apply quality assurance standards to enable university institutions to fulfill their mission in meeting the needs of society and the labor market.

The Minister of Higher Education stated that there are well-thought-out plans and decisions to improve the scientific environment in line with modern educational and academic programs, pointing to a qualitative achievement represented by the decision to adopt the Bologna System which paves the way for completing all quality and academic accreditation requirements.

Additionally, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi paid more emphasis on the promotion of the culture of productive universities, calling at the same time the state institutions to benefit from scientific and applied research and studies to achieve the highest level of indicators of sustainable development, praising the educational services undertaken by the University of Basra and its colleges and scientific departments.

On his part, the President of the University of Basra, Dr. Saad Shaheen Hammadi, expressed his welcome to the visit of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi and his accompanying delegation, reviewing at the same time the scientific and research achievements of the university and its progress in many international classifications and its application of quality assurance standards that enabled it to perform its mission in meeting the needs of the society.
