Under the patronage of Assistant Professor Dr. Muhammad Asaad Al-Kaabi, Dean of the College and within the framework of the curriculum of scientific activities prepared for the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Karbala and as a contribution to spreading health awareness of the importance of maintaining public health, the College of Veterinary Medicine, in cooperation with the Free Sector, the Primary Health Care Center in Yarmouk and the General Veterinary Hospital in the governorate, participated in the celebration of the School Health Day held by Sayeda Ruqayya Bint Al-Hussein School in Al-Ghadeer neighborhood.
The college’s participation in this celebration aims to enhance the role of health awareness among school students and the school community in general, which is an important part of the efforts of the college and the health center to educate students about the importance of public health and maintaining a healthy and sound lifestyle.
Where general instructions were provided to students on personal hygiene and the importance of healthy food and a scientific awareness lecture on the importance of common diseases and ways to prevent them.
In addition to introducing students to the importance of veterinary health and its role in the safety of society and environmental protection, and how to deal with pets in a safe manner, with an indication of the importance of veterinary health care for animals, and the need to conduct primary health examinations through cooperation with the health center, which contributes to enhancing awareness of the need for periodic health follow-up.
Educational awareness brochures were distributed that included tips on how to prevent infectious diseases.
The participants praised these awareness efforts and expressed interest in future cooperation with the College of Veterinary Medicine.
These activities will be repeated periodically in schools in neighboring areas because of their importance in strengthening and developing the role of awareness programs.
