The visit of fifth stage students and graduate students to the fields of cattle and buffalo breeding in the Husseiniya district in the holy city of Karbala

                    Under the guidance and supervision of the Dean of the Faculty, Assistant Professor Dr. Muhammad Asaad Al-Kaabi, and within the curriculum prepared for the clinical subject, the Veterinary Internal Medicine and Preventive Medicine Branch at the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Karbala, in cooperation with the veterinary dispensary in Al-Husseiniya, organized a scientific field visit for fifth stage and graduate students to the fields of breeding cows and buffaloes in the um Al-Gharaghr area of the Husseiniya district.

 

The visit aims to enhance the practical aspect of students and prepare them to deal with field cases and provide students with practical experiences in dealing with farm animals and their participation in preventive vaccination campaigns.

The visit included an introductory tour in the fields of breeding cows and buffaloes, and they were provided with all the tools and equipment necessary to work in the fields, and they also received guidance on biosafety procedures and safe handling of animals, while introducing them to the work environment and various animal cases by professors and how to conduct an examination of animals and assess their health condition.

Clinical diagnosis skills for field animal diseases were applied in addition to their participation in preventive vaccination campaigns aimed at protecting cattle and buffaloes from infectious diseases, including foot-and-mouth disease.

The Veterinary Internal Medicine and Preventive Medicine Branch seeks to organize field visits for students periodically to increase practical efficiency in addition to expanding the scope of cooperation between the college and the fields of education to provide additional training opportunities for students.

This visit reflected the importance of integrating the theoretical and practical aspects of veterinary education, as it contributed to enhancing students’ practical abilities and increasing their knowledge of actual field cases.
