The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Karbala University defended the master’s thesis submitted by student Zaid Riyadh Abdulwahid from the Public Health Branch, entitled: “Effect of Exogenous Protease Enzyme:
“Effect of Exogenous Protease Enzyme on Broiler Chicken Performance and Gene Expression in Reduced Energy Diet”.
The study examined the effect of Exogenous Protease Enzyme added to low energy and protein feed on broiler performance by monitoring growth parameters and feed utilisation efficiency, as well as evaluating some aspects of gene expression associated with metabolism.
The thesis aimed to demonstrate the possibility of improving the efficiency of animal production and reducing feed costs through the use of feed additive enzymes as they have a role in increasing the utilisation of nutrients and compensating for energy and protein deficiencies.
The discussion committee consisted of the following specialised professors
– Pro. Dr Kazim Saleh – Chairman
– assist.pro.dr Jassim Aidan Qasim – Member
– assist.pro.dr Ali reza Abdul – Member
– Prof. Dr Yasser Jamal Jamil – Member and Supervisor
– Prof. Dr Latif Ibrahim Abdul – Member and Supervisor
The committee commended the researcher’s efforts and the importance of the findings in supporting the poultry industry. At the end of the discussion, the committee awarded the student a master’s degree with a well-deserved honour. His Excellency the Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, Assistant Professor Dr Mohammed Asad Al Kaabi, praised the scientific efforts exerted in this study, stressing that such applied research represents an important step towards supporting the poultry industry in Iraq by providing innovative solutions to reduce costs and improve production.
