As part of its environmental and community initiatives, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Karbala organised a large-scale event to mark National Tree Planting Day under the patronage and in the presence of the Dean of the Faculty Assis Prof. Dr. Mohammed Asaad Al-Kaabi, with the participation of a number of faculty members students and staff.
This initiative aims to spread a culture of environmental awareness and increase green spaces within the university campus, where a number of seedlings and trees were planted in the college courtyards and gardens in a step that promotes environmental awareness among students and affirms the role of educational institutions in supporting sustainability.
In a statement during the event Dr. Mohammed Asaad Al-Kaabi emphasised that the college is keen to play its part in supporting national campaigns aimed at protecting the environment noting that such activities contribute to creating a healthy and aesthetic university environment and strengthen students’ sense of belonging to the place where they study.
He added that tree planting is not only an environmental duty but also a scientific and educational message that emphasises the importance of positive interaction with social and environmental issues.
This event comes within the framework of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine’s annual plan aimed at promoting environmental awareness and community volunteering in line with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s approach to supporting developmental and environmental initiatives in Iraqi universities.
